Lessons, the debut release from The Big Hurt melds elements of Alternative Rock, Reggae, Acid Jazz. Hip Hop, Funk, Drum-n-Bass, Ska, Punk, Latin and Go-Go. Recorded at Waterford Digital in Pasadena, MD with producer Frank Marchand (Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, Toadies and The All Mighty Senators), The Big Hurt went into the studio with a batch of songs reflecting each of the band member’s diverse musical influences. The album’s 10 songs range from heavy guitar driven rock to Acid Jazz melodies over Jungle and Hip-Hop beats to break neck Punk/Ska and Reggae interludes. Although touching on many different musical styles, the result is a singular sound that is at the same time musically complex and refreshingly accessible.
This is Lessons. “If they were easy, they’d be forgotten.”

Nina, just give me a taste.
You know I'm trying to get with you.
Nina, don't give no bad face.
I didn't come here for no attitude.
One love, said if she be a drink then I be her cup.
& if she be a mountain I walk it up.
& if she be a river I sinking slow.... slow.
Nina, if I be in your way.
I'm trying to find out where your going to.
Liar, if I was to say...
I wasn't trying to get with you.
Young rum rolls right off my tongue.
Young rum rolls right off my tongue.
Run child, just don't roll over.
Run child, just don't roll over.... run, run said
If she be a drink then I be her cup.
& if she be a mountain I walk it up.
& if she be a river I sinking slow.... slow.
Nina, just give me a taste.
You know I'm trying to get with you.
Liar, if I was to say...
I wasn't trying to get with you.
